ProMed Staffing Resources celebrates World Social Work Day and National Professional Social Work Month to highlight the selfless and tireless work of social workers across the United States. Since the 1960s, the National Association of Social Workers (NASW) has designated March as National Professional Social Work Month to recognize social work professionals and their important contributions to the communities in the US.
The theme for this year’s celebration is “Elevate Social Work,” to draw attention to many contributions social workers make in our society. According to the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics, there are an estimated 682,100 active social workers in the United States with 110,000 more expected to enter the profession in just seven years. Social workers serve in schools, hospitals, mental health clinics, government facilities often behind the scenes. They counsel, provide crucial support, empower and advocate for some of the most vulnerable populations including children and the elderly.
