What comes to your mind when you think of a salesperson? Probably a relentless professional who persuade others to buy things they don’t want, right? Well, our star Travel Nurse Recruiter Brayan Orzo, who has a background in sales management, proves that wrong. Orzo uses his experience in sales to identify his nurses’ needs and matches them to the right travel nursing assignments. He builds meaningful relationships by going above and beyond the call of duty and closes deals by securing top dollar for his nurses.

In this blog, Brayan talks about his experience pivoting from sales to recruiting and how his experience in sales helped him become an ace travel nurse recruiter.

1. Can you talk about your experience as a recruiter?
I have had a very interesting recruiting career thus far, from accomplishing a few goals to overcoming adversities. Overall, switching careers from, Sales Management to Travel Nurse Recruiting has been one of the best decisions I have done. Definitely, much more fulfilling and purposeful.

2. how has your background in sales helped you become a nurse recruiter?
I don’t know if it’s just the Newyorker in me or the way I was trained, I have this direct approach to a high sense of urgency. Most recruiters I have met or heard about, just move slow or have too much of a laid back approach, but in my eyes, these people have it backwards. You got to put yourself in the nurses’ shoes and get straight to the point to secure their next job with the quickness!

Yes, I do take the time to get to know the amazing people, I have the pleasure of working alongside with, and I meet with them as often as I can, but at the end of the day, they are talking to me, not because I have an awesome smile and personality, but, because they want money to feed their families and fund their dreams! So, it motivates to know the outcome is providing these opportunities to so many hard-working people, who have chosen to share their hearts and gifts for the greater good. Knowing this… why would anybody just take it slow?
