Christopher Benson: I really belong in the hospital!

By ProMed Staff

Whenever you see someone who is amazing at their job, it is natural to think that the person was born to do it. There is no better example of that sentiment than when you see Christopher Benson in action.

Benson, 28, was hired as an Administrative Assistant at one of the top hospitals in New York City. He was appointed to fill in for a person out on leave. Even though he only worked there for a week, he made a positive, memorable impact on his superiors, so much so that he was referred to another facility under the same hospital group in a matter of days.

“If I had to describe Benson, I’d say he is very sharp, thorough, articulate, and compassionate- qualities that are extremely important for a healthcare professional. It’s like he was meant to do this job,” said Nancy Ramos, Recruitment Manager at ProMed Staffing Resources.

From his earliest memories, Christopher knew that he wanted to work in a hospital. “I feel like I really belong in the hospital!” said Christopher, who comes from a family of healthcare providers.

Christopher’s grandmother, a dentist, and his mother, a nurse, are a significant influence on him. “Both my mother and grandmother had an extraordinary impact on my life. I saw how they went above and beyond to help patients and their anxious relatives, and I knew very early on that I wanted to do the same,” said Christopher, who worked as a supportive living companion while cheerleading in college.

Popular career-based television drama further contributed to Christopher’s pre-existing love for the field. “Medical shows like Grey’s Anatomy had a considerable influence on me. There is something so empowering about it,” he said. “I got to learn about the inner workings of hospitals, all while being entertained.”

He now implements all that he learned over the years, in his new role as a Registration Clerk. He approaches his work every day as a new opportunity to make a difference in someone’s life. “Even though I am not a doctor or a nurse, I know that my new role is as critical. I work on the front lines assisting patients and their families, all while effectively managing the workload,” said Christopher.

Christopher Benson exemplifies the core values of ProMed Staffing Resources. He pours his heart and soul into everything he does, including running his own online magazine. “We are all rooting for his success and wish him the best!” said Ramos.
