What Hispanic and Latinx Heritage Means to Me

Hispanic and Latinx Heritage Month is a time for ProMed Staffing Resources to celebrate the contributions of our Hispanic and Latinx employees to our company and our community. We are proud to have such a diverse workforce that is committed to making a difference. Below is a spotlight on some of our Hispanic and Latinx employees sharing their insights during this special month. This is what they had to say:

Emily Ortega, Coordinator

Emily Ortega Hi, my name is Emily Ortega and I work as a coordinator at ProMed Staffing Resources. Being of Ecuadorian descent, my culture means everything to me – it’s such a huge part of who I am and something I’m very proud of. I love aspects of my culture like the food, music, and customs. It’s definitely had an influence on my life and career, making me the person I am today – for which I’m very grateful.

My experience as a Hispanic/Latinx American working at ProMed Staffing Resources has been great. I’ve been with the company for a while now and have found that I can relate to many of the clients, candidates, and employees here. Plus, I feel valued and appreciated. It’s wonderful to work for a company that is so diverse and celebrates all cultures.

I think it’s important to celebrate Hispanic/Latinx Heritage Month as it helps raise awareness of the contributions Hispanics/Latinx Americans have made to this country – especially in the healthcare industry. It’s also a great opportunity to celebrate and appreciate the diversity within our company. I think it builds unity and understanding.

So be proud of your culture and celebrate it today and every day!

Victoria Jimenez, Credentialing Specialist

Hi, my name is Victoria Jimenez and I work as a Credentialing Specialist at ProMed Staffing Resources. I’m of Dominican descent. I was born in the Dominican Republic and came to the United States when I was a child. My culture is very important to me because it’s a part of my identity. It’s something that I cherish and keep close to my heart.

There are many things that I love about being Hispanic. I love the welcoming nature of our culture.

I think that one of the best ways to learn about and appreciate my culture is to experience it firsthand. I invite others to try the food, listen to the music, and explore the customs and traditions. I also think it’s important to have open and honest conversations about our cultures. We can all learn from and appreciate each other’s cultures if we’re open to it.

Simone Kumpulainien, Recruiter – Acute Care/Nursing Division

Hi, my name is Simone Kumpulainien and I work as a recruiter at ProMed Staffing Resources. I am Brazilian-American, and my heritage and culture are very important to Simone Kumpulainien, Hispanic and Latinx Heritage me. I love that my culture is so vibrant and colorful. From the food to the music, and dance, there is always something to enjoy.

Since I joined ProMed Staffing Resources, I have been very pleased with the company’s commitment to diversity and inclusion. I feel like I have been able to contribute to the workplace in a meaningful way and have had the opportunity to learn from and connect with others from different cultures. I am proud to work for a company that values my culture and background.

In my day-to-day recruiting work, I often draw on the values of my Brazilian culture. For example, the importance of family and community is something that I keep in mind when working with candidates. I also think that the hospitality and openness of Brazilian culture comes through when I am speaking with candidates and clients.

I think one of the most common misconceptions about Hispanic/Latinx Americans is that we are all the same. The reality is that we come from a variety of backgrounds and experiences. We are not a monolith and that’s why representation matters. I want people to know that Hispanic/Latinx Americans are a diverse group of people with a lot to offer. We are hardworking, creative, and passionate. We contribute to the richness of American culture and society. So, let’s celebrate our differences and come together to create a more inclusive society.
